Hosted by High Falls County Park.
Join us at High Falls County Park for the Walk for Change, a community event dedicated to raising awareness, supporting survivors, and promoting resources for those impacted by domestic violence.
This free, family-friendly event invites the community to come together in solidarity with survivors and take a stand against domestic violence. The walk will take place at 11 AM around the park’s main loop, but there’s much more to explore before and after!
What to Expect:
Community Resource Booths – Connect with local organizations offering support, education, and advocacy.
Inspiring Guest Speakers – Hear from survivors, advocates, and community leaders.
Interactive Activities – Leave messages of hope, paint kindness rocks, and take part in engaging projects that raise awareness and promote healing.
Family-Friendly Fun – Enjoy coffee trucks, kids' activities, and a welcoming space for all ages.
Moments of Reflection – Participate in ceremonial tree planting and other opportunities to honor survivors and victims.
Whether you walk in memory, in hope, or in support, your presence makes a difference. Come stand with us as we walk toward a future free from domestic violence. 💜

Join The Hiding Place for a community Candlelight Vigil during Domestic Violence Awareness Month as we gather to honor lives lost to domestic violence, stand beside those who are still living through it, and recognize the courage of survivors who have found their way forward.
Together, we will light candles as a visible reminder that no survivor should have to walk through the darkness alone.
This will be a quiet, meaningful evening of remembrance, reflection, hope, and community. Survivors, families, advocates, first responders, service providers, and members of our community are invited to stand with us.
We gather for those we lost.
For those who survived.
For those still living in the darkness.
And for the day when no chair is left empty because of domestic violence.
We remember. We honor. We stand together.
And together, we shine a light on the darkness of abuse.

What happens when we stop talking about domestic violence—and begin truly listening to the people whose lives have been shaped by it?
The Chair Between Us is a trauma-informed restorative justice circle hosted by The Hiding Place, creating space for survivors, advocates, first responders, service providers, faith leaders, and community members to sit together in honest conversation.
There is no stage. No panel. No debate.
Just a circle, a chair, and the opportunity to listen differently.
Through guided questions and facilitated conversation, we will explore the impact of domestic violence, the barriers survivors face, the ways our systems and communities respond, and what it can look like to create safer spaces together.
You do not have to be a survivor to attend, and no one will ever be required to share a personal experience. You may speak, you may listen, or you may simply sit with us. Listening is participation, too.
Come to listen.
Come to learn.
Come to hold space.
Because sometimes change begins when we are willing to take a seat across from an experience we have never lived.
Save the date- October 22, 2026!
We are so excited to announce that we are partnering with the Pickens County Youth Board! During Domestic Violence Awareness Month and National Youth Substance Use Prevention Month, we have decided to join together to create an Unfiltered Art Showcase for our community to enjoy. This showcase will celebrate authentic expression, resilience and the power of being heard.
The Youth Board is accepting art from youth in our community and The Hiding Place will be working with survivors in our program to create art pieces that showcase their stories unfiltered. In addition, if you are a survivor that wants to submit an art piece, please email Breann at breann@thehidingplacepickens.org to submit. All art pieces will be reviewed.
We cannot wait to share this special evening with our community!

Take Our Voices Back is an intimate evening dedicated to reclaiming the voices, words, stories, and parts of ourselves that abuse tried to silence.
Through poetry, spoken word, journal readings, storytelling, and other creative expressions, survivors and members of our community will take the mic and share pieces of truth, strength, grief, healing, and hope.
Some will speak.
Some will read.
Some will simply listen.
Every voice belongs in the room.
For every voice that was silenced.
For every story someone else tried to write.
For every person learning to speak again.
Tonight, we take our voices back.
This event is free and open to the community. Registration is encouraged.
